This actually is my first posting. It's about a grave evil carried out in a quiet peaceful town. Enjoy it.

THE EVIL WITHIN

THE EVIL WITHIN

Wrapp'd up, but for her eyes
Façade of the Egyptian mummy
With no moon up in the sky
She set out on an evil journey
Eyes roam'd from side to side
Surely no one was coming

She slid into the woods
Dangling a papyrus basket
In it thought men was food
But, food this night n' forest?
With gentlemen, all strangely good
Was this town mighty blest
Men who thought it gravely rude
To accost a 'harmless' guest

Shock greeted the inhabitants
When very early on the morrow
Men stood round like ants
Beholding burnt to the marrows
The remains of an infant
Whose mother no one knows

Wailings, howling rent the air
From men, women, lads n' all
Among them a widow without heir
Who left ajar her stall
And began to curse n' swear
This act felt bitter as gall
More so, in this town where
Love n' harmony stood giant tall
One by one they left with tales to bear
About the evil done that fall
