Winter Hearts

Winter, winter, winter.
A moment slowing down
freezing in its motion.

This is us,
our end.

You and I are lost,
and we will never be found,
our candles are fading.

Tonight is all
we will ever have
I know it in my bones

This darkness can be our bed,
our love a prayer to whomever.
It is passing, all passing,
I feel it, and I see it
in the auburn of your eyes.

I can take it.

With you I can.

You are my warmth, my light
my purpose and my soul.
If we parted I would freeze,
a figure in the ice.
So, as you pass, I will follow,
away from this tomorrow
that will never be.

Outside, the winter stillness is spreading.
But we found a place
where we could hide our memories.
Winter hearts must burn the brighter,
the stronger.
Winter hearts can burn forever.

Commentally Ill
i like autumn hearts.... the coloring, at least, is spectacular.

the thing about winter, is that it's one step closer to the renewal of spring.

and incidentally, winter hearts do not burn for ever, eventually they turn to soot - stinky soot at that. don't ask me how i know.
