Written in February 2001, when my first bf left for the military
and I'm curled up in my bed.
I think of you and smile
and pretend your Mr. Ted.
I hold you close beside me
and kiss and hug you tight.
'Cause now I know I'm with you
your teddy through the night.
I close my eyes and see you
standing there in front of me.
This makes me forget
that you are far away at sea.
And then this makes a moment
that seems to last so long.
But like the tick-tack from the clock
you were there but now you're gone.
Again I'm scared and all alone
and lying in my bed.
I think of you and smile,
but now I'm Mrs. Ted.
You hold me close beside you
and kiss and hug me tight.
'Cause now we are together
as Teddies through the night.
