There are times in our lives that all we have to ease the pain are our fantasies.

The Feather

Once upon a time her fantasies came true.

The gallant knight came to her rescue.

The glass slipper fit her delicate foot.

She no longer was covered in cinders and soot.

The prince awoke her with his tender kiss.

They lived in his castle in infinite bliss.

The dragons were all fought and slain.

She lived her life without any pain.

The moon smiled full and bright.

Because of her, the stars twinkled at night.

Inside each oyster, she found a pearl.

The sky was filled with rainbow swirls.

But when she awoke, it was all a dream.

The storm raged and the wind screamed.

For she was again in her reality,

A dangerous place for an angel to be.

There she lay with her broken wings

Unable to fly, unable to sing.

Alone in a land of mortals and death,

She closed her eyes and took her last breath.

And in the end there was no laughter,

No more Happily Ever Afters.

When you see a feather floating in the air,

Think of her for she still lingers there.

For there's  no place for an Angel to sing

When she has nothing but broken wings.

funny, this poem made me think of Chris de Burgh's song The Tower... a single white feather left on the window sill... don't aks :) a very beautiful story told in the poem... dreams of knights of shining armour, saviours there to save the day... i love fables of this nature... i truly enjoyed this read... thanks, got me back to my childhood readings :) *hug* xx

You have the gift of complete abandon, letting go of the world around you and opening yourself with no restraints on your imagination, where treasure troves abound and gems like this are found.
