Three haikus

The dead tree's echo
talks to all in the garden.
Winter is hiding.

Lurking in shadows
stray sparrows fold their small wings.
The bushes are alive!

The slow night coming
is wrought with wings and weather.
I am still waiting.

Pensive and alive. I was going to express a preference for the middle one, then I realized how subtly you have integrated the thee. Well done!

Beautifully writte! I love haikus - have a book with a Norwegian publisher right now which I hope might get accepted. Haikus are wonderful to help us express all we have to say in few words. I learned that from a grade six student I taught three years ago. (I always introduce my students to poetry through the haiku). He wrote:

the friendly old oak
stretches out its arms to me
to give me a hug
