Just to clear up any confusion about the first few stanzas of this poem,
I wrote a trio of poems, "Reincarnation", "Death" and this one, "Life"
Life
Reincarnation written first in this group
Death, second of this trio profound
Now Life will complete the end of this loop
Should have been the other way around
It's crazy and simply astounding
It just couldn't be much worse
And for me, it's simply confounding
Why I'm writing in reverse
I should have written Death after Life
That's the knowledge experience brings
It's the belief that is commonly rife
As we know that's the order of things
No more this fixation on sequence
Let's get to the writing on Life
We must now attempt to commence
Without further sequential strife
"Life is beautiful" This cliche routinely abounds
But is it always quite true?
Does it apply to the homeless around
Who are more then just a few?
"Life is beautiful" We hear time and time again
Yet we make bombs, of life not caring
Slaying children, women and men
Poor victims who's lives we're ensnaring
We celebrate a babe's first day
And mourn a person's last
What comes between, I must dismay
Is life that flies by fast
While living, let's raise our self esteem
Make loving life's true fashion
Since life is just our passing scene
Let's live it with compassion
