I have a friend
I have a friend inside of me who tells me what to do
He wears a beard and has a haloed crown
He told me that if I were to be a friend to you
That you would never ever let me down
I have a friend inside of me who shows me the true way
For I alas am blind and cannot see
He found me on a path askew when I was lost astray
And led me to this place where I met thee
I have a friend inside of me who tells me not to lie
Even though the truth oft times brings hurt to me
He tells me that my sins are on my face for all to see
And they shall be absolved with honesty
I have a friend who shares my loss and understands my pain
And tells me that it's good that I can cry
For tears can wash my sorrow and soon make me whole again
And time will help me understand the why
I have a friend my only friend ere times be good or bad
And though in him I have a love so rare
Sometimes I need someone to hold me when I'm sad
A friend like you to all my feelings share
