Mums Simple Request

Mum woke me with a sneeze for school then she sniffled back down the hall
and with her croaky crackly voice called my brothers one by all
And with the usual stampidish fashion we all asked for eggs and toast
and Dad as usual was the one who asked for the most

"I'll have coffee and scrambled eggs with cheese
and add a little pepper to it and some bacon please"
My older brother was next in line with his request
he said "Put vegemite on my toast because I like it best"

My older brother challenged this "vegemites not as good as honey!"
And they both began this huge debate as Dad handed out lunch money
The toast pops up as the kettles whistle blows
As two of my brothers say to mum "There's no clean school clothes"

Mum opens her mouth but no voice comes out
but she lets her scowl reveal her rage
She wrinkles up her twitching eyes as she scribbles wrods on a page

...You're all lucky I have lost my voice because I'm feeling mighty mad
none of you are invalids and neither is your dad
My throat is soar my head's hot and I'm feeling really ill
Please make me a cup of tea so I can take a headace pill
Put MY tea beside the bed because I'm going their to rest
And put strawberry jam on my toast because JAM IS THE BEST!!
All of you are on your own to find your socks and shoes
And don't say you can't find a thing to me it's all old news...

Dad tried to speak but with a bite full of food he was unable
So mum stomped away with her note left on the kitchen table
Dads eyes moved from word to word looking all confussed
He took a long doubtful glance towards the kettle he never used

"I'll make mum a hot drink" he said as if it was a volunteered sugestion
He glanced at the kettle sighing "Boys there's only one question...
where's the button to make it boil, I've looked but can't find one??!!??"
All of us knew the one person who'd know so all of us called out for...MUM!! mum...
