A poem I wrote in trying to deal with my pain when my sister died of AIDS.

War is inevitable

War is inevitable

My war is against AIDS
Against the HIV terrorism
The deadly virus of mass destruction
Biological warfare so potent
Its ambush unsurpassed

This virus is a violation
It is threatening my peace
At risk is my very existence
My health stolen away
Body wasting away

My battle is against AIDS
Against its scathing attack on the body
Days spent in excruciating pain
Nights in scalding fever
Its malice unrivalled

This syndrome is an infringement
It is curtailing my freedom
At stake is my potential
My dignity stripped away
Sanity fading away

My war is against AIDS
Against its dehumanising assault on the mind
Days spent in delirious oblivion
Nights in disturbing hallucinations
Its force unparalleled

This epidemic is an encroachment
It is destroying my humanity
At peril is my right to life
My future taken away
Dreams blown away

My conflict is against AIDS
Against callous world complacency
Hearts that are cold to my calamity
Ears deaf to my waning wailing
Its brutality unequalled

This pandemic requires an inspection
Of the greed for profits over lives
A thorough search by experts
A vaccine can be found
A cure is within reach

My war is against AIDS
A quest to preserve humankind
Mine is a call to combat, to be on high alert
Launch a massive attack, halt the massacre
Target an offensive strike, eradicate this parasite
Destroy the enemy once and for all

In any war , many battles are fort , many are lost , many lost , it's that final battle that is won , that wins the war , AIDS is not so different , AIDS , the war against it WILL BE WON!
