I have no idea how this came into my head.....

I never knew what love is

I never knew what love is,
Till you came into my life,
Like an uninvited guest,
You marked me yours,
With a flag bearing your name,

I thought it was great,
I thought it was fun,
Till you got bored,
I felt as though,
I got hit by a gun,

Now I don't get butterflies in my stomach,
When I talk to you,
It feels as though,
Though those butterflies have flown away,

Though you hardly realise,
Though you hardly care,
The feeling's dead in me too,
It just isn't there,

But I'd like to thank you,
For if it weren't for you,
I wouldn't have realised,
What a fool I was all along,
Running after a stranger,
Till you were completly gone,

I disregarded the people close to me,
I disregarded their love,
For some love that just wasn't there,
For some love that wasn't enough,

If it weren't for you,
I would have never come back to my own tribe,
If it weren't for you,
I would have never known what love really is.

John Ashleigh
To experiance love is to also be hurt. It's unfortunate, but that's life.

A lovely poem, I wish you all the best!
Regards,
John.
