Calming Karma

I have entered a calmer phase
where who we are
now glitters in the snow.

Each night is colder, older ~
somehow I see vaulted roofs
where once I saw stars.

I am a star gazer who
lazily lifts lids, opaquely
I am now oblique.

You put a cap on dreams
but I can still see
farther than you

My constellation is mapped
by my own body scars,
I name each one ~

A baptism of masochism
but I do not self harm,
To me, body is beautiful.

Each creamy length of thigh
defies all degradation
I deny you.

Indeed I am in a calmer phase,
tomorrow, I shall be
catatonic, with ice and gin.

Nice tension here between revelation and resignation.

Downright spooky, too.

Beautiful and sad. I hope the writing is more cathartic than the gin, Elle. I continue to insist that you are a very fine poet despite your self-deprecation.

Calming indeed, but with a nagging feeling that something is not as it should be.

Love that last line!
