Friday's Sacrifice - Corpus Christi

Day of the Dead

light in the dark

wasting away

'neath the gallows

broken souls sway

heads hung askew

bodies limply displayed

laughter of the dead

echoes enraged

rotten and vile

hatred engaged

red is the blood

dried and decayed

scabs of the wounds

crows pick and play

demented delirium

scenes of the day

An excellent poem that almost left me speechless!

A gruesome and enlilghtening description of that black Friday we Christians call Good. You have created a picture and a mood so fitting to the events of the Sacrifice. An amazing piece.

Spooky scene, and the sort of pendulum rhythm is very effective ...

I'm thinking of your two latest poems...
The two faces of the same existential coin,
or, the two poles of the sphere of life...

Thank you!
