A Poem for All Of Us
© Thomas R. Farrell 2007
I love the smell and feel of summer rain
And even with the mist which enters in the porch
Where I will go to sit awhile to watch it as it falls,
I love the coolness in the air that comes as compensation
From thunderstorms and wind, on summer afternoons.
Sitting there, quiet as I wait until ... all the rain
Has had its time and chance to dance upon the grass
And nestle in the ground until it finds a place to rest
And feeds the trees that shades us all, this special time of day....
Lord, I love this summer rain
and I am glad the clouds and heat
Have finally freed her from the sky
so we may call her
all our own.
