Undine--female water spirit...

The Undine Calleth

At lakeside by the conifer
I watched her standing in the brake,
Her gown of sheerest gossamer,
Upon the cold and silent lake.

Black as the night her dripping hair.
Her beauty filled me with an ache,
She seemed a goddess lean and fair,
This sorceress beside the lake.

Under the starry canopy
I said: "All others I'll forsake!"
Her see-through flesh of ivory
Now drew me closer to the lake.

Bright droplets dripped from her like jewels,
They seemed like opals all opaque,
She turned, her eyes two moon-bright pools,
Reflecting all that haunted lake.

And now at night we two will stand
Within that reedy, hidden brake,
And sigh together, hand in hand,
Beside that silent, haunted lake.

Bravo poet! 1 quatrain past a sonnet, but very skillfully worded ... I was dispairing the lack of good reads upon the board today and this wonderful piece appeared. Kudos!
