the realm of the unreal can make one experience emotions vividly

Surrealism

I was waiting yesterday, by the stream,
I played and sang, and hoped,
I danced and bathed, in the stream,
But you did not come.

I was waiting yesterday, by the starlight,
I gazed and awed, and prayed,
I walked and hopped, in the starlight,
But you did not come.

I was waiting yesterday, by the sunshine,
I basked and glowed, and despaired,
I stared and cried, in the sunshine,
But you did not come.

I was waiting yesterday, by my bedside,
I sighed and resigned, and called,
I startled and awoke, in my bed,
But Alas! You could not come.

That was a really good poem. It describes the feeling of longing, and loss quite well.
