Sweet Powers

She is simple now and she
Sings when she is alone.
Her needs anorexic at last.

She is still full uged with life
Yet her wants
Have wafted away...
Put behind her without notice-
Waved away with a hand
Urging soft rejection
Given slight attention.

But I must mention she is at
Her full potential
Now stripped down
To her simple self.
Simply herself...that once she
Was a stranger to.
Nothing and something anticipate now...
Draw riches from her own airs.

There are sweet powers
To be had
Within her hands and mind
If she has the ability
To remain herself...
It really is that simple for her.

I watch her in the mirror
And smile whenever I see her.
Simple women are the best!

We get away with murder :)

Love the simple complexity of this piece if that makes any sense. I agree, brilliant line "her needs anorexic at last."

"I watch her in the mirror and smile whenever I see her"

That's more than a great line, it's a great accomplishment

Wonderful poem

This is a fine poem, Linda, an accurate self-portrait, I suspect. I loved the thought of "anorexic needs."

Sounds like she's found herself after quite a search. And maybe it's the searching that makes life so difficult. You finally find what you're looking for when you stop looking. Funny she should turn up in the mirror, of all places.

And yeah, women get away with murder. No doubt. But you didn't hear me say it.
