i lost my voice...

Speak

I can see what you're saying now I am
Having to listen with no possible response
Burbling my options.
Being dumb has opened my eyes.

The temporary sensory deprivation
Of a larynx and pharynx being jinxed
Feels audacious to my ears...

Go ahead and tell me more.
I love to smile knowingly.

Even better is to write knowingly, as you always do, which often makes me smile knowingly.

Very nice poem, Linda. It's good that your fingers still can communicate.

Over the years, I've learned that the old cliche is true. The less you say, the smarter people will think you are. You don't even have to "smile knowingly." You can blink like an idiot, and others will fill in your side of the conversation, and believe you to be quite intelligent.

Speak up! Wouldn't want a hill named after ya, would you?

I love to smile knowingly
