Here Tonight

The long drive home from work was filled with lonely solitude.
Every song on the radio reminded me of you.
I couldn't get you off my mind, in truth, I never tried.
I reached out to take your hand, but you weren't by my side.

I am missing you and I'm wishing you were here.
Dancing cheek to cheek as I whisper sweet nothings in your ear.
As we sway to the rhythm of the music, we hold each other tight.
Oh how I wish you were here tonight.

I pulled out of the freezer a microwave dinner just for one.
Poured some wine, took a sip, while waiting for it to be done.
I sat down at the table across from an empty chair.
I reached out to touch your face and run my fingers through your hair.

I am missing you and I'm wishing you were here.
Dancing cheek to cheek as I whisper sweet nothings in your ear.
As we sway to the rhythm of the music, we hold each other tight.
Oh how I wish you were here tonight.

I think I'm going crazy.
We're so very far apart.
I know one day we'll find away,
I feel it in my heart.

I am missing you and I'm wishing you were here.
Dancing cheek to cheek as I whisper sweet nothings in your ear.
As we sway to the rhythm of the music, we hold each other tight.
Oh how I wish you were here tonight.

Bittersweet memories.
I know them well.
