Impostor

Am I an impostor?

never feeling fitted,

slightly outcast

off cut of this life,

I have the normality,

house, garden

trappings and kids,

but,

still it persists.

where should I go?

where are my pieces?

they were shattered, long ago.

To strive to live authentic to self
is indeed to be an imposter to a societal lie
which coerces us to fit a mold and acceptability that
douses the spirit and fashions us into manageable automatons to serve the design of others greater than us.
How sad for us to be picking up pieces that should not have
been shattered in the first place.

It is common place to think we all have to live up to certain standards, sometimes set by minorities whom of which try and become those they admire. Sure, you can look up to someone, but do that by living your own life. Perspective is healthy. Life has many twists and turns, Shells. :) This poem deffinately made me think - so thankyou. :) Keep writing, my friend.

You write ever so well.

Regards,
John.

Everybody has had a feeling of not fitting-in at some point or the other in their life I guess. It's what makes us human; the feeling of wanting to belong. And your poem is a good interpretation of that feeling. :-)

This voice calls to all. Very important. Just now I am involved in a mid-life snack!

I think many feel this way, at the very least, from time to time. Sometimes I think it is part of the consumer program we've all been bombarded with since childhood, telling each of us that we are incomplete unless we partake in "The Game!"
Thanks, Nick
