Hurdy Gurdy

Hush...

Can you hear
can you hear the Hurdy Gurdy play
the air is still
as the moment slips away
and icicles
falling from your eyes
play their tune for me
it's as if
you never died

But there is only mist
between me and your hand
i know you are there
it's just
you walk another land

And every tear i ever cried
lies deep within my heart
and all the pain i ever felt
an eternity
left to march

And all the pain i ever caused
haunts me
every single day
if only it was possible
any price - i would pay

Can you hear
can you hear the Hurdy Gurdy play
the air is still
as the moment slips away
and icicles
falling from your eyes
play their tune for me
it's as if
you never died.

Rik, you're writing more beautifully for each day about loss, desolation, a beloved presence gone.
(And those icicles, those icicles!...)

Rik, you have me crying. That is the saddest poem I have read in a long time.

Knowing someone is gone, and 'realizing' that they will never be on the phone again, is indeed a sad, and almost overwhelming emotion.

Although I was not close to my father, a year after he died, I automatically picked up the phone to talk to him..and then realized he was really gone.

Thank you for sharing this. Joel

DISTURBINGLY BEAUTIFUL!
or should I say:
Beautifully disturbing?

But disturbing it is!
And
Beautiful still!

The Hurdy-Gurdy
Gives it a desolate air,
Sets the melancholic tone for the poem,
Just like the melancholic moan of a
Hurdy-Gurdy!

((((((Hugs dear Rik for an excellent poem))))

Love, xxx, Zoya
