Something that has been on my mind a lot and has finally managed to fall into words.

To be immortal....

I wish I could write on the sands of time,
And burn into a crystal my name,
I wish my face would remain in minds,
For centuries to follow and always stay the same,
I wish my voice would flow through the breeze,
A little song on everybody's tongue,
I wish I could stay immortal someway,
And be erased by none.
But wish I might,
In plain sight,
I will be gone one day,
This face, this voice, this name will die,
Only my essence will stay.

Immortality! As I see it - though writing - we hear achieve just that! when some times hence - finds our work. Then we smile - enjoying being read time after time! And I gather The British Library - is collecting writing found on The Net!

One's poems are one's immortality, the language and legacy of one's 'essence', how one's love and memories endure.
