old sweetheart poem from 1986

A Touch Can Tell

The first time I touched her,
my nerves took the fun,
but now when it happens,
I feel she's the one.

Not' one and only,
but joy and some care,
She's nice to look at,
and her mind is aware.

She likes to bewilder,
she loves to be sweet,
She's got what it takes,
that's why She's so neat.

I wish to touch her,
with truth on my mind,
and God truly knows,
that's damn hard to find.

I hope that it happens,
if not I'll just see,
if it don't, well,
okay, its all right with me.

If it does happen,
I'll be happy inside,
its got to be better than,
all the night that I've cried.

She's ready to be loved,
I know that quite well,
I'd like to be there,
instead of in Hell.

With this I will close,
in hopes there's a chance,
at having and keeping,
a healthy romance.
