A Little Drop or How the Hydrologic Cycle Should Be Explained to Children

It happened in a small province, where a little, but inquisitive girl, named Greta, lived with her parents. Once, Greta went to the countryside with all her family. One morning she went to the woods. The weather was foggy; the larks sang high in the sky, the woodpecker drummed marvelous melodies of the forest somewhere among the boughs, and the frogs gave loud croaks in the swamps. As she harkened to the wonderful diversity of the sounds in this forest, she heard little drops, falling down from a maple into the brook. Greta approached the maple and gently put her palm under the leaf, and one of the drops fell into her palm. The girl took a good look at it: the drop was iridescent and miraculous. Suddenly Greta heard a thin voice, which said, "Hello! I am so pleased to see you!" "Who are you?" Greta inquired. "It is me, the drop on your palm", the voice continued. "I came from a faraway land, called Egypt, where there is a river called Nile, which has a great multitude of drops, such as I. It is one of the greatest rivers of the World. All the water in the nature circulates, and this movement is eternal, as the Universe. When the Sun is scorching, the water vaporizes, and millions of drops like me go to the heights of the heaven in the form of a steam, and thus the clouds appear. Then, the wind blows and carries the clouds to the faraway countries where they spill in the form of rains and thunderstorms. Then this water vaporizes again. This has been happening since the creation of the Earth and always will be so". "How interesting!" Greta exclaimed. "And now I have got to return... Maybe, we will meet again", the drop continued. "I will miss you", Greta replied. "Goodbye, Greta", said the drop as it fell into the nearby leaking brook.
Feeling a little sad, the girl went to the house where her parents had prepared a tasty lunch for her. She decided not to tell them what had happened in the forest, but instead kept it inside her heart as a marvelous life experience.

Blilith
Dearest,

I loved this, a really good piece.
There is a saying "All the waters in the World are just a tear in the eye of the Great Frog" This reminded me of that.
