The Optimist Pessimist
The optimist knows things will get brighter
The pessimist sees darkness ahead
The optimist knows the load will get lighter
The pessimist says "lighter after we're dead"
If these two would try, at least just a little
Their bright-dark extremes to resist
They might compromisingly meet in the middle
And turn into one optimist pessimist
