Water flows beneath the frozen frost on the banks and the wind ripples the water shapes.

Wind Ripples

Wind ripples in the shade of the snow
It picks up the wind and learns where to go

Around the shadows of the frozen tree
Where the winter kingfisher waits to see

If the water fish will swim upstream
In their circles like a dream

To hide between the dark of stone
Silently waiting there alone

For the cold to melt away and go
To leave the warmer time and show

The season changing through the way
The flowing water stops to say

When fluffed-up robin stops to sing
Of what he hopes the spring will bring

As rising vapour is unfurled
To tip the skirt of the warming world

To float between the sunlight sift
On the water where the currents drift

The wind plays colours through the light
And takes the pictures into night
