This ballad tells the story of a murder and an attempted murder that took place in a small village in Sweden. The whole drama was enacted within a Christian community where one of the members had recived a prophecy that she was the bride of Christ
A prophecy to enact and the earth trembled
Do you take this Christ to be your man
And You this bride to fulfill your plan
Seven diamonds in a ring and the bride was won
In the name of the Father and the Son
What happened then is forever sealed
And will never in public be revealed
The cock was heard to crow 'least twice
Did the bride have to pay the price?
And give the most holy grail for fun
In the name of the Father and the Son
//When God asked Abraham to kill
His beloved Isaac, it was God's will
Abe took the knife to slay his son
God said, NO, let the boy run
But someone didn't hear the change of plan
That was made by God and his man//
With moon and stars and angels out of sight
The evil scheme was set one night
A nurserymaid just a pawn in the game
Was the one that was chosen to aim
Not once but twice she fired the gun
In the name of the Father and the Son
The wife of a priest took the bullets in her bed
A neighbouring friend in his head.
She, didn't wake from her sleep that night
He, lost a part of his face without fight
The rooster crowed and the night was done
In the name of the Father and the Son
When life is caught in the sight of a gun
The Reaper does what has to be done
In many late hours I've tried to understand
The mysterious work of my Father's hand
The good and the evil, the light and the dark
The eternal curse of that ancient mark
