It seems there is no 'normal' weather anymore. Time was the seasons and the days followed their predictable patterns and we didn't need forecasts to know what to expect. You could tell to the week what week it was by looking out at the fields, the flower and vegetable gardens, how big the foals and calves were. There was comfort and a connection to place in the orderly unfolding of the days, coming and going as we knew they would. Now we seem to be pretty much disconnected to everything, and not least the weather.

If its any consolation,Ken. I'm in the great white north of Canada and we're still looking for mid 20's and sun. Its been a wet dreary "spring" for far too long.

Dear Ken, at this moment I am sitting by my pool with a long cold non-alcoholic cocktail, soaking up the rays of this glorious summer - well actually - I was in my dreams - As you know I don't live in the UK - but the weather seems to be an illusion everywhere at present!
