If It Sticks...

A shrink once told me
If I have a problem
To write it down,
Then put it away...
Bring it out another day
When the urgency of my plight
Has faded in the passing of days
I won't feel that way anymore
Simply scrunch it into a ball
And throw it away
The problem is gone
Simple right?
Ah but silly me
With my love for poetry
Wrote it here, for all to see
(annoying rhyme involuntary!)
And for two years it has sat
Waiting for me to revisit
Past loves, fears, dreams
And looking at it now,
I concede, some of it was good!
And some of it was complete shit!
I have sat here for over an hour
Sometimes giggling at myself
Do I take that advice?
Should I delete some?
After witnessing my own evolution
Despite my cringing...
I think, "No!"
Maybe it takes a bit of manure
To help a poet grow.
;)

I like your statement that perhaps it takes a lot of manure for a poet to grow. :)

Good write.

Elle The PoetBay support member heart!
Definitely can relate to this - I look back at some of things I have written and take an inward groan - I think as you say it does take a bit of manure for any writer to grow and I am still growing I think - I take the view, it was me, it still is me but I've grown - insightful and fun read and I am sure that this is a poem that many like me will inwardly chuckle at.

Lets keep for posterity and hang what the others think, se somehow got here from there :-)
