Inspired by Bob Dylan's "Not Dark Yet"

I Was Given

I was given a book a long time ago
Reading has now become rather slow
Behind every beautiful word of gold
I can sense some kind of cold
The story I'm reading is soon out of age
Not last word yet, I'm turning the page

I was given a room and evicted 'gainst my will
Nice and warm but gives me less thrill
The tubes in the plumbing are rusty and weak
Soon I expect there will be some leak
The windows are dirty and dim for the sight
Not all dark yet, there's still some light.

I was given a road to walk and to travel
Sometimes it's even but often with gravel
Facing the crossroads questions arise
Without any answers I just throw the dice
'Neath the lily of the valley I rest my head
Not road's end yet, it's waiting ahead

Nicely lyrical. Excellent use of the journey as a symbol of living. We never know what's ahead or around the bend in the road.

We've all had doubts and each person must come to their own conclusion. Great inspiration from a great song.
