The Gatekeeper

Standing at the gates of Eden
I was not allowed to pass
'Not today, sir!' the keeper shouts
And then he turned to me his ass

Waiting for the day to come
I read my book anew
Years went by and time ran fast
But no one else went through

Questions tumbled in my head
When keeper finally revealed:
'This gate was yours and yours alone
But now it's closed and sealed'

Turning to the end of pages
I saw an ancient find
The keeper of the gates of Eden
Is but a shadow in our mind.

A very intriguing and eloquent poem. I like it very much.
