The poet is not quite as curmudgeonly as this poem's speaker: I'm even wearing green today!

Enough Already with Saint Patty's Day!

The first of my two brief complaints
Is this: I don't believe in saints.
The second is: For green to please,
I'll leave it up to grass and trees.

Good one, Rob. I was in Victoria, British Columbia for Saint Patrick's Day. I learned that Canadians, at least up there, seem not to give the day much thought. Now, some sort of British of Scottish holiday would be another matter.

There is no one more Irish than those who don't live there! I once went to an Irish pub just outside Hanover in Germany :-)

Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
With no offense to those who love this holiday, I find it, next to the Easter bunny--which I've never figured out--one of the most ridiculous and overdone holidays in the country! Oh Bob, you are actually wearing green today?? Well, maybe because I live in a different country I just don't see it. I am as curmudgeonly as the poem's speaker.
