I LOOK AROUND THE ROOMS (with thanks to Jamsbo Rockda & Lawrence Beck))

I look around the rooms of my house
In each room are books - many books
In those books are some truths - many
Also some lies - many a lie
I seek both - one begets the other- it must
Be said

Books on past history - can give a views
Of possibles - probables - of the future

Reading - is like archaeology - troweling
Through the pages one by one
Learning that the ancient Egyptians understood
The human body - better than the Greeks did
Though they did know out about the brain
Thought it were hart that mattered!
The ancient Brits - wheat production compares well with
With what Britain grew in the nineteen fifties - go figure!
The Romans - found out - Britannia - bread basket - Rome!

History teaches respect fore the past - our ancestors
History teaches us lessons - only us can see and understand
Or not - if not - well - then - history - will rub our noses in it!
Again and again - thuss - it - has always been - so!

There is a great deal to be learned from studying the past, I agee, but it's important to remember that what we think of as history reflects the present so much as the past.

Yes, if we fail to understand the failures of our past then we are destined to repeat them. I love history, especially the characters that helped build the great empires. Nicely written Ken.
