God's Ten Commandments

To get closer to God, we must attend Church and pray.
And there are Ten Commandments everybody must obey.
We must live the way that Jehovah wants us to live.
When we are wronged by people, we must forgive.
If we put God first, Heaven is where we'll go.
God's Ten Commandments are listed below:

1. You shall have no other God's before me.
2. You shall not worship idols.
3. You shall not take the name of the Lord in vain.
4. Remember the Sabbath Day, to keep it Holy.
5. Honour your father and mother.
6. You shall not murder.
7. You shall not commit adultery.
8. You shall not steal.
9. You shall not bear false witness.
10. You shall not covet your neighbor's things.

Sarah Parnes is right. The commandments were meant as laws, not as a path to heaven. The Old Testament, the Jewish faith, is not about Heaven, but living a God fearing life on earth, and to live within the laws.

As Sarah said, this is not a criticism of the poet, only a response to the poem.

Sarah Parnes
You only have to believe in God as your savior, that he came and lived on this Earth to die for you so that He could have a relationship with you. The Ten Commandments is an outline of common sins and its use is to be kept in the front of people's minds so they don't sin.
The above is not towards the poem or poet, but addressed to the comments where there was a question asked.
Pretty poem, but works don't get you to Heaven. God does.

you say, if one obeys the ten commandments they will go to heaven. why is it then, that every evangelist i've ever heard says you must be born again to go to heaven. the ten commandments are old testament. if you can go to heaven by obeying the ten commandments, then you can go to heaven without being saved, without being born again. you can't have it both ways.
