She was a powerfully sensual and haughty widow/aunt
Who taught me the value of living on the edge. A dowager
Empress of the extreme. She was 40 years my senior but I had
A huge crush on her as a young man!

Pearl

She had Lena Horne's flashing eyes
Fiery brown fierce with passion
She dressed with sensual goodbyes
Body language never submission

A storm in nacient eruption
Her laughter a peal of joyful light
Her anger a hurricane's destruction
Her tears a flood theatrical might

A cut glass goblet of aged dry white
Her trademark at any time of day
Her pleated dresses pastel bright
High heeled sandals Her mainstay

She loved and hated in bold array
Never Luke warm in any way
She challenged life every day
Her death took my breath away

Nicely done. Every young man should have a Pearl in their early life. Exciting, effervescent and audacious. An kind of Aunt Mame figure. You describe her so well and it is hard to think of such people as gone.

This is wonderful! All the lovely descriptions are so detailed and fresh and real. You painted her into reality, made her come alive and made me understand how you felt for her. I love this.
What a beautiful memorial piece for her. She must be smiling. :)

A very nicely written poem about a clearly memorable person. You were a lucky nephew.

The passion of this phenomenal woman comes through loud and clear as well as your admiration for her and her way of living. No one could have a better teacher of life and a romantic crush on her would be inevitable at any age. A passionate poem.
I am sorry for your loss, but she carries on in yourself and those she influenced.
