One Reason to Go Back
It hasn't been easy to stay with the baby. She walks much more quickly than I can now.
It's also not easy to cling to this world. It turns
Ever faster. I'm feeling flung off, steadily drifting
Away from its residents: monsters and dupes,
Who have turned on each other, gathering arms,
Stepping on toes. I haven't a reason to wish
To return, except for the baby. I want to go
Get her to save her from danger by leading her
Somewhere that's safe.
