two-a-penny
the dispossessedworth no more
than any other two-a-penny tools
used until useless
then left to starve
in sun-dried sand
or winter wasteland
the dejected survivors
clinging to the tattered symbols
of shattered civilizations
symbols soon stolen
by culture vultures
though they have no power
when abstracted from their roots
