What Caused My Death?
How does one do the autopsy on a childWho died many decades ago? The body
Is bones. The grave is unmarked. Was he
Killed? There are suspects: his parents,
His schoolmates. He may have been
Poisoned by accident. Only his mother
Can tell us the things that he ate, and she's
Saying nothing. Despite all the evidence
She believes he hasn't died, but the truth is,
A happy young man disappeared. Somebody
Showed up with his name and his face,
But it soon became evident he wasn't him.
This new guy was silent. He couldn't
Be happy. He clearly was not the one
We can recall, so we beg for a body,
An autopsy, anything. Tell us why
That child died.
