I wrote this some time in the 1990s.

Parent/child 2

I remember
Days long ago:
Your arms,
Comforting, warm,
Holding me close.

Motherly words
And smiling eyes
Clear and blue
Warmed away
Childish tears.

Years have passed:
Your frail body
Filled with pain
Trembles with cold
And apprehension.

Now your tears
Mingle with mine:
You, the child,
I, the parent,
Holding you close.

I cannot express how much this means to me. I'll let my poem speak for itself.
