Firelight Impasto

Black silhouette the grate
Pulses in velvet red and orange
Warming slouching drowsy folk in
Patched denim and calico
Coaxing rest from tired eyes
As rain and mist landscapes
A mottled window sagging
With pealing sash this
End of a cold fruitful day
Of honest toil.

Very nice, Joe.

This is quite the treasure trove of a poem, Joe, with a wealth of colours, textures, and contrasts to enjoy. We particularly like the word 'pulses'; it seems to draw us closer to the fire and, in this, closer into the poem itself :>)

Gratifying and rich, so many phrases appeal: "velvet red" "patched denim and calico" & "a cold fruitful day/ of honest toil" --- I'm charmed by the accuracy, where the words just seem so apt.

A fine title for this finely layered impressionist poem. Bravo.
