Just Give it Some Consideration
Play your cards right, baby, and you'll findYourself a poet's muse. Nobody holds that
Office now, but you could prove to have
Some traits which suit you to that awesome job.
Your hair is purple. That's a start. Could be
You're an iconoclast. You lips are bent into
A sneer, and poets love to be disdained.
You don't look rich. That's for the best,
As this position doesn't pay. You'll get
To share the poet's meals, however meager
They may be, and help him toss off beer
And wine, and fight for blankets on his bed.
Such hardships may not seem worthwhile,
But consider what you'll gain: enduring
Immortality in poems which aren't read.
