dispel the darkness and economy

dispel the darkness

early morning

marketa comes into the living room

finds me on my mat stretching

every light in the house on

i see her assessing

i feel her internal sigh

i have no resistance to cold

or the dark thoughts

that come on these long dark nights

she knows this

makes coffee

settles into her routine

which rarely varies

and never gives an inch to such things as winter

economy

i often write as if words

were expensive

and my assets limited

I'm not so sure that your "assets are limited," but it's refreshing to see you use them prudently. There are some notorious wastrels hereabout.

Winter’s darkness can be forever and cold can be numbing emotionally as well as physically. Paula and I are constantly cycling light switches in every room in the house as one leaves and the other enters. I need light. I swear Paula sees in the dark!

Economy is brilliantly rendered!
