Welcome December by Ann Wood

December is cozy.
Orange peel.
Cracking wood.
Lighted candles.
Red wine.
Sometimes a rose.
Quiet piano.
Wool scarf and thick socks.
First snow.
December is a concern.
Attention and thought to our loved ones.
Gifts. Surprises. Meetings.
Warm milk with cinnamon.
Letters and cards. Waiting.
December is a spark.
Shine in the streets, in the eyes. Lights.
December is (equal to) bills.
We pay with 365 days of incidents and omissions.
All that we could be, but we are not.
Every unspoken word and belated gesture.
That phone call we missed.
The trip we didn't make.
The work we did not accept.
The words we didn't say.
December is a promise.
Equally old and new.
To be better.
More generous.
More grateful.
To dream more.
December is a look inside.
Nostalgia for childhood.
By what we were, what we were looking for, what we believed in.
In tales with happy beginnings, not ends.
For that tomorrow, which we are always looking for and still do not reach. December is all in one.
The coldest and warmest month.
The most full of people and the loneliest.
Both an end and a new beginning.
Forgiveness.
December comes and goes like a dream.
But first, let's meet him.
Welcome, December!
Be good to all of us and give us love, snow whiteness, and a lot of warmth!
