Spring in Twilight Denouement

The wood pile smaller

The winter long

With it my strength

To split and carry

But spring is here

Not dark at five

The fields are wet

With melting snow

Dun brown gives way

To hints of green

Winter wheat seen again

Fall planted bulbs again arise

I sit here worn in this old chair

And pray to witness one last year

To see the flowers in vast array

To feel the sun hot once again

There's a poignancy in your welcome of spring (that "one last year"), but I welcome your welcome of this season of new life!

A nice poem. I share the feeling, though I wish you would have written "one more year" rather than "one last year."

And so the seasons pass - and so you shall enjoy those long hot days :-)
