Retrospective

As I reach the end of my life’s day

I ponder how my journeys stray

Had my wandering gone awry

From lurid jungle to a azure sky

Deserts barren to cobalt waves

Arctic snows to Manhattan raves

Did I once think to rove no more

To sit while others played their score

Till now that was an outlier thought

But age and time make for denouement

So I sit and dream of days gone by

With a ready smile and tearful eye

Age and time have won the day

But oh my memories they cannot decay

Very good indeed, Joe (if I may). Neat rhymes and altogether a fine musing. Bravo.

I love the line "Arctic snows to Manhattan raves": a wonderfully unexpected contrast!

A fine (retrospective and contemplative) musing on aging and living! The last four lines sum up the poem's theme in a fantastic way! Nicely done, Joe. :)
