Trumped

“Edna's here.” “Oh, god, again?”
“To show you how to change your
Life. Eight decades in a tiny town
A little north of Helena has given her
The confidence to tell you that your
'Open-mindedness,' in fact, is all
The devil needs to drag you into
Hell. Consort with queers and
Liberals, with Asians, and with
Women who don't closely crop
Their body hair, and you'll find
Yourself damned. It's clear, but
Come back to the church, and tell
Your wife (yes, me) that she should
Stay at home to raise and school
The children, and the path to
Paradise, though thorny, will again
Be open. Pray to god. Reject
Corruption. Uphold all the values
Which once made this sinful country
Great, she'll tell you.” “Can't you
Say I've died, or, better yet, is there
A way to hasten her demise?”
