Sonnet: O Liberty!

O Liberty! Where have you gone? We need
freedom from the lowest minimum wage,
from working two jobs that make our feet bleed;
from the long nights and weekend shifts that age
us before our time for less than ten dollars
an hour. What BS is this (when the top
one-percent of this country's most elite
rich use the courts and the everyday cop
to oppress us and own fifty-percent
of America's wealth)?? O Liberty,
what happened to 4th of July, Seven-
teen Seventy Six!? Where's Prosperity,
and our American Dream? (We know where!
It's all in stockholder's portfolio shares.)

I am not American, and this poem is largely about America, but I have to tell you (if you don't already know) that your fine thoughts and words can apply to almost every country in the World I would think. Bravo for voicing them!
