Wrote this in 2015. Thought I'd post it here once more with a few small revisions

Thoughts On Flights

I hold a small
Simple thing

A wood screw
One of hundreds
from the box
To be used without thought
To fashion something
Much more grand

Archimedes
Would be pleased
To know how
Fundamental
His concept was
To the benefit
Of us all.

From spiral staircase
To this lowly screw
From pump to prop
From fan to foil
He is the father of them all

Fine observations, Joe. It seems that, no matter what we do, we're screwed.

Dear Josephus,

What an elegant and lovely poem. I loved it.
