I greatly admire this nonviolent leader of human rights and restoration of democracy in Myanmar, where she is under house arrest for most of the last ten years. Last year on June 19th I sent this little poem to her on her sixtieth birthday.


Aun San Suu Kui

You are alone in the confines of your house,
on the sixtieth summer of your life.
Fighting for liberty by paying with your own liberty.
For those rights of ours you fight,
which you are deprived-off most of your life;
Because a frail woman is a bigger threat than life,
for oppressors of her simple rights...
You will go down deep in history;
we are with you from here to eternity...
Aun San Suu Kui.

I cant imagine why they would keep her under house arrest for so long? But I reckon that sometimes it is worth fighting for the cause you believe in.....nomatter what the consequences, nomatter what the cost...that is what makes a difference between those who lived life and who just passed through it.
