I wrote this one whilst waiting in the vets with one of my cats, who had diabetes and couldn’t empty his bladder normally, so sadly I had to let him go, as the title suggests.

Away you go

Away you go
I’ve set you free
A total friend
You were to me
But now’s your time
To hunt amongst the clouds
To catch the wind
And sip the rain
From the brilliant shrouds of the sun

So run now little one
It’s your time to be free
Get where your going to
And set a place for me….
For we will join again in time

Animals are not our pets,
They are part of our family.
So sad when we lose one,
Regards Alan.

For me there was a moment when time took over with strick advice; like you've so brilliantly expressed with your words that don't need any help or assistance. I have been in the vice of unrehearsed passion from friendship to matrimony, on a ship to clouds with silver linings. Intuition is the key as to why birds fly. This is how your pen to pad influences my poetic ventures of the English language in silence. Thank you for this write for it is mentally stimulating as well as poetically one heck of a masterpiece.

D G Moody
There was a time when I though people with pets were sad. Then we got a dog, and I fell in love with him, then we lost him; and now our next dog is on his journey; so yes, I must be one of those sad people too, because this poem spoke to me.

Thank you Peter

So sweet, bittersweet. I'm sorry for your loss. A gentle poem to say goodbye.
