"Blessed be the strong man who can be true to his self (and his word)"

UNWORTHY

I asked you.

Would you have expected me to pass …
unknowing?

Was there anything else I should have done?
Should I have implored you?
Begged you?
Lain at your feet in supplication?

I was unable to distract my concentration ...
from the opportunity.

But now ...
the ether is devoid of all activity.

There is no sounding of your breath.
There is no pounding of your heart.
No scratching of your pen.

No indication
of if ...
whether ...
nor yet, even,
when?

No message.
No reply.
No response ….

Ever?

Never?

Dear God this cannot be!
This. Can. Not. Be!
I will die!

---

But in the dark of night ...
in the silence ...
in the bitter torment
of my fears,
of my not knowing ...

I cry into my pillow...

Unworthy tears.

one trick pony The PoetBay support member heart!
The emptiness that comes when the words that you so wish to hear fail to come is profound

Deeply effecting.

This spoke to me of an unrequited love; maybe a faint heart that did not, could not declare itself until it was too late - the moment had passed, hence the unworthy tears.

Hmm. I'm wondering who truly is the unworthy one? They that cry the tears, or the subject of their fascination. For the writer still grieves so for them, despite being treated unfairly, I deem the taunter unworthy of such tears.

Wow, I found this so powerful. The way you spaced things out brought a whole new visual(?)/emotion(?) I really loved it.
